Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #7

Here is my card I did for Dawn's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #7. As you will see I went a little crazy with taking pictures! I actually made 3 cards and had a hard time choosing which one to use. So you'll see I posted my other cards I made as well below this post. I really like these colors, they're so pretty together!

More..

See, I had a hard time deciding which one I wanted to use for the color challenge!

Card-a-holic

That's what I've been these past couple days! I've been making cards like crazy! I need to get caught up on some thank-yous, and a few others. I always feel so behind and late on things. But at least I eventually get to things! I don't like being late, but hey, it's better than not doing anything at all! I actually made 8 cards but one I did not like how it turned out at all and I need to see if I can salvage it!
Just a couple simple ones.

2 more

I really like how this card turned out!

And this one is one of my favorites! I think this is the card I will sent to my Grandma for her birthday.

Last 3

These 3 I really like! I love the orange hearts with the blue!
I think I originally saw a similar card like this that Dawn McVey made.

This one is really cute!

Grandma + Me

This is a little something I created for my Grandma who just had a birthday. I love her so much and miss her so much! She lives several states away so I don't get to see her too often. This is going to be a little belated gift I will have printed as a 5x7 picture and then framed. I took this layout idea from page 23 in the June issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine. I really loved the colors and the delicate look of it, it reminded me of my Grandma. At first I thought it would be a little too busy, but I think I like it! I keep tweaking it, so we'll see if I end up changing anything else or not!

Todays cards...

Ok, this card I actually made a while back, but I did add those pins to it today. I'm really into those lately, I think it adds such a cute delicate touch!
This is actually the second card i made like this. I copied this card (the first one, you'll notice)Dawn made that I just thought was so cute and darling I had to recreate it! Not quite as neat as hers, but I think I pretty much pulled it off! I made the first card for my sister and her hubby's 13th wedding anniversary, and I didn't get a chance to take a pic of that one, cause it was a super quickie and I had to rush out the door. But I liked the card so much I made another one and figured with all the people I know I could send this for another anniversary. The only difference from the first one I made is that this one has a butterfly and that one didn't. I like the butterfly!

3rd card, all 3 + pure joy

Sometimes when I go to make a card for a particular person or occasion by the time I'm finished with it I sometimes change my mind on who it's going to be fore, but not always. Sometimes I just want to make a really special card for that particular person and if the end result isn't perfect enough or just what I wanted for that person than I will end up using it for something else. I needed to create a birthday card for my Grandma, while this card turned out cute, I'm not certain I am going to use this one for her or not, maybe though. I was inspired by this card that Ashley Newell created.

And here are all three of them together. If you haven't noticed, all three of these cards have something in common, have you guessed??? Yup, they all have pink! Haha! You're probably going "duhhh, Jessica".

And my handsomes were out with me while I was taking my pictures of my cards. This is my eldest being the cute big boy he is. Yeah, that hay bale is left from fall, eehh, I guess we should toss it, huh?!

And how could I resist such cuteness!!?!?!

Head over heels

I hadn't even noticed that Kristina Werner had another color challenge up and that this layout was pretty much the same colors until my sister in-law mentioned it to me! Ha! So the colors are close, maybe not exact, but figured I'd go ahead and enter it anyway! This page is one of those ones that I loved how it went together so quickly, like everything fell together and turned out how I wanted, but then, like always with me, I get stumped when it comes to the perfect quote or saying on my layout. I knew I wanted something about my love for my newborn son, but then I wasn't sure if I wanted it to say "head over heels in love" and didn't have a picture of me kissing him on here or anything. This is one of the things I struggle with most when creating a layout. I'm not very good with coming up with the right words. I feel so much when I look through all the pictures of my children and family, but when it comes down to the right words to put, I just come to a standstill. So with this said, I'm not totally certain I will keep this one like this... maybe end up using the quote for another page??? Or would it be wrong to use it in more than one layout?
I remember reading once that there are no rules or rights or wrongs to scrapbooking, just scrap what you want, how you want, what you feel and it's right to you because it's your life that you're capturing! Doesn't that make sense??? I hope so! Ha! Anyway, I have realized that I am a BIG time scrapping procrastinator, I won't scrap until I, 1. Feel the creative juices flow. 2. Am inspired by an amazing idea or have an amazing idea pop in my mind. 3. have to have it turn out perfect (to my standards). And 4. Set aside all those fears (that I just mentioned) and have fun creating a page!! Ha, how contradicting is that??? Yeah, that's my perfectionism coming in again. I need to really let it go. I'm so awfully terrible about it. But seriously, I am only excited about scrapping when my layouts just fall together and turn out really neat looking, otherwise I feel discouraged and it makes me not want to scrap anymore.
Yeah, I have issues I need to take care of in this department.
Also, I should mention that this page was inspired by a page I saw over at Label Tulip.

Mother's Day gifts

This is what I made for my mom for Mother's day.
A chocolate bar with a special made sleeve, a timeless template recipe wrap-up folder with tea bags, a box with extra tea bags and a handmade knitted dishcloth inside.
Each project was so fun! I love seeing them all together! And I bet the card looks familiar to you! *wink*
Oh and by the way, did I mention my husband fixed my butterfly punch?? YESSS!!! *Dances around joyfully* I was soo happy and pretty proud of my hubby for fixing it for me!
I love these colors!

Gifts continued...

This candy bar cover I kept simple and just made it by measuring it to fit the candy bar and scoring the fold lines to fit around it. I messed up twice, and finally my 3rd one I got right!

I didn't get a picture of this all opened to show the inside that had the pockets which held tea bags. I was in a hurry so I didn't take the time to open it up and do so.
So as you untie the ribbons it opens up to six panels with each having a pocket, which I created and punched a scalloped circle in the middle of each pocket to show the name of the tea on the tea bag. The pattern is a free download from Papertreyink.com it's their timeless templates. They're lots of fun to make, and look so pretty when finished! You can make it for whatever you want to, not just for holding tea. They give you some great ideas and examples. I had seen somewhere on some one's blog (can't remember for sure where) the idea of putting tea in it. So it was inspired by who ever I originally saw it from.

This little box was lots of fun and so easy to make! The instructions for making it are here.

Jackie's Sewing

I just wanted to share a little something about my sister, Jackie. She's been sewing a lot lately, and she's created several dresses and skirts for her daughters... They are ADORABLE! (both her daughters and the skirts & dresses of course!). She seriously could sell her stuff she makes. I think she's very talented with this! Her stuff is just darling! So thought I would share with you her adorable creations she's done and you can check her blog out here.

Color Inspiration

Today I was checking out Ali Edwards blog as I often do and today she was talking about color inspiration. And giving tons of advice, examples, pics etc... Soo helpful and encouraging! Color has changed so much for me over the years. I look back and think on when I use to make things, buy clothes or anything and how I limited myself to the "safe" colors (like a boring navy shirt, or gray, or black). Now, my eyes are soo opened now and I LOVE sooo many colors and color combinations. As Ali was talking about just walking in her garden, local greenhouse, or bookstore or downtown in your own town, how there is just so much color inspiration around us! It's so true and soo inspiring. I often will just see colors that I LOVE together and it gets my wheels turning and makes me want to create something with colors! Especially this time of year when everything is in bloom and fresh, it makes me happy and I think God really wants to show us through colors how much he loves us to give all this beauty of color around us, the joy it brings to us, the inspiration, the colors of new life!
So just thought I would encourage you to not be shy with using colors that you maybe wouldn't normally think of or if you're stumped just go for a walk somewhere and look for inspiration! It's all around you! Or even in your home! Open yourself up to new ideas and let the colors bursts from you in your creations! It could open up a whole new you IN COLOR!
Have fun, create, show your true colors!!! Or NEW colors!

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge week 4

Yet another color challenge by Dawn. These colors are real simple and pretty! I love the comforter and sheet set in the picture.. I looked at them at Bed Bath & Beyond and it looks like it's $80 for the whole set for a queen bed! I might have to ask hubby if I could get it as a belated Mother's day gift after I save my pennies up, ha! Anyway, this is my card I made for this challenge.

It seems no matter how hard I try to get a decent photo of my cards I still can't get it perfect! Grr! I really need some photography lessons for dummies.. haha!

Color Inspiration #50

Some of you may have noticed I originally posted a digital layout for this challenge. Well, I had some issues with that and decided I wasn't as happy with the results of it enough to have it for the challenge. So I deleted that entry and decided to just create a card for it.
You probably notice there is a glare on the butterflies.. I used a clear plastic to do a window effect. Something really sad happened while I was making this card, my Martha Stewart butterfly punch broke! Yeah, bohoo, I was pretty sad. Apparently you can't punch through two layers of card stock with it, yeah, I learnt the hard way. So now I will terribly miss this punch, I use it all the time! I had to leave something off this card that I originally planned on putting on it, but because my punch broke I couldn't do it. So anyway, I just left it as is.

I'm really liking the foam dots to give a raised effect to things. I didn't capture it well enough with the camera, but none the less I did use them!

No rhyme or reason

I decided a while ago that I am not going to scrapbook in order (Or rather I will have no "rhyme or reason", to my scrapping. Well, there will always be a reason for my pages. But I mean I may just scrap a page out of the ordinary for no reason). Since I am SO behind on my scrapping instead of stressing myself out to try and scrap things in order, I am going to just scrap as I find pictures that I want to scrap. One day it may be older photos and another day they may be recent. And this is SO out of my ORGANIZED plans of what I have in my mind, so this is really a a change for me and I think I am relaxing more on things and not stressing so much. I think it has discouraged me when I have felt in the past that I needed to scrap all my pages in order and it has caused me to just put off doing it because I had this "PERFECT" plan in my mind on how I wanted it all to be and never took or found the time to do it all how I wanted to. Or, could be for fear that they wouldn't turn out as perfect as I wanted them to be. Probably me comparing my work to others! Shame on me! But now I am totally letting all the "perfectionism" go! Well, maybe some of it anyway! My pages will most likely be placed in an album in order though. Sometimes I like to scrap recent things because they're more fresh in my mind and I want to get it scrapped right away. I usually journal most everything on the boys but there are times I forget to make note of something or may only have a picture to show or visa versa. I know there will be pages I design that will have no pictures because I didn't capture that particular moment on camera (I seriously have cried because of not getting a photo of a special moment that happened). But I really just want to scrap and truly enjoy it and have fun and not worry about keeping them in order as I scrap. But just feel free to do a page out of the ordinary and be myself and enjoy it and like doing it!
It's funny, because I was scanning through the millions of pictures I have to choose some for the color challenge Dawn has up right now, and I came across these. I was going to just change them to black & white but I liked the color in them and I wanted to keep them in color. So I decided to just design a fun page with lost of fun colors! AND I was able to pull of putting PINK on a page with my son on it!! Since my mom was wearing pink in these photos and just the specialness of Grandma with her grandson I think made the pink fit in well! I am so excited I captured this moment on camera!
